For Employers

Death benefits that
actually help.

Your workplace will have people dealing with a death, whether you plan for it or not. MORTL for Employers gives every employee end-of-life planning, state-specific guidance, and honest grief support as a benefit. The part your EAP was never built to handle.

How a pilot runs

1. One call

Thirty minutes with your HR or benefits lead. We scope headcount, states, and launch date.

2. Launch in a week

You get the launch kit: announcement copy, intranet content, and a manager one-pager. Employees activate with a company link. No SSO project required for a pilot.

3. Quarterly reporting

A utilization summary prepared by MORTL: activations, checklist progress, tool usage, and anonymized themes. Numbers you can put in a benefits review.

4. Renew or walk

After a year you have real usage data. Renew at pilot pricing as a case-study partner, move to the Team plan, or walk away clean.

Questions HR teams ask

Is this a replacement for our EAP?

No. Your EAP handles counseling sessions. MORTL handles the part before and after: the planning, the documents, the state-specific tasks, and the practical guidance when a death happens on your team. They sit side by side.

What do employees actually get?

Full MORTL Premium: a planning dashboard personalized to their state, every document tool including the will template and advance directive hubs, The Folder family handoff document, family sharing for 5 people, and the someone-just-died crisis path, which is free for everyone regardless.

What data do you report back?

Aggregate numbers only: activation rate, checklist progress, and which tools get used. Never individual plans, documents, or personal details. An employee's will is not your business, and we keep it that way.

How fast can we launch?

A pilot goes live within a week of signing. Benefits decisions for January plan years happen in late summer and fall; a pilot started now is live before open enrollment.

Employer Questions

What HR asks us on the first call.

Why is death planning an employee benefit?

Because every employee either dies or loses someone, and both events land at work. Settling a loved one's affairs averages 420 hours of work by Empathy's research, against a typical three days of bereavement leave. Employees do the other 417 on your time, distracted and grieving. Preparation is the only lever that actually shrinks that number.

Can you see our employees' plans?

Their plans are theirs. An employee's documents, wishes, and family information are private to them, and we do not share the contents of anyone's planning with their employer. What you're buying is access and readiness, not surveillance.

How long does rollout take?

Days, not quarters. There's no HRIS integration required to start: employees get access, an intro session if you want one, and printable resources for the people who prefer paper. Open enrollment season is the natural moment, but a pilot can start any time.

What does it cost?

Pilots start at $2,500 a year for up to 100 employees, with per-employee pricing beyond that and custom terms for enterprises that need SSO or white-labeling. The pricing table above has the current numbers, and the form below starts a real conversation with a real person.
